Our Story
(Tiffany Fonohema in a coma; Her husband Moe by her side)
4 Gone Still Strong is a nonprofit foundation inspired from our family’s lived experience.
———
After a sudden battle from a blood infection called sepsis in 2018, when a simple cold turned into double pneumonia, I was then fighting for my life and put in a medical induced coma for almost a month.
I was given only a 10% chance of survival.
When I woke up, I found out the infection had made my limbs die, and I was going to have to become a quadruple amputee, an event that changed our lives in ways we could never have imagined.
What my family and I went through was deeply traumatic, and finding our way forward was incredibly difficult. We couldn’t have rebuilt our lives without the compassion, generosity, and support of others.
The road to recovery was a long 6 month hospital stay, with multiple surgeries and the overwhelming process of learning a new normal way of life. Family and community gave us hope and encouragement to keep pushing forward.
This experience didn’t affect just one person, it impacted our entire family. We understand firsthand how powerful that kind of support can be during life’s most challenging moments.
4GST is dedicated to uplift individuals through their healing process. We understand firsthand the emotional, physical and financial toll that comes after trauma.
This organization is our way of giving back and providing that same sense of hope, care, and community to others facing similar hardships.
We are determined to pay it forward the way that kindness and the support of others helped after my own trauma. With your help we can make a difference and impact those who need it most.

Moe Fonohema and Tiffany Fonohema
In 2018, I became ill with double pneumonia that turned into sepsis. I was given only a 10% chance to live. After one month, I woke up from a medical induced coma. Moe Fonohema was at my bedside and broke the news to me that I was going to have to amputate all of my limbs because they had died to save my organs. He said he would be my arms and legs until I could get back up again.
He is my hero and has believed in starting 4 gone still strong non-profit cause he knows every step we have had to make to get our life that was turned upside down to a new normal again.
We had to remodle our home to be accessible to my needs and have had expenses we weren't ready for and really appreciate the love, support, and kindness we received from our community. That support we are forever grateful for. That support was the inspiration for us to give back through the 4 gone still strong non-profit.
Rosalie Curtis has been a friend of mine since we were kids. She only lived 3 houses away from mine and I consider her and her family my family too! She loves her family and her farm fur babies so much. She has always cared for others on a deep level and is always helpful to her community. I'm grateful for her help her and ideas.
Davontae Fonohema is our oldest son out of five children.
When I mentioned to him years ago that I was going start a non-profit, he jumped on the idea and told me right then and there he wanted to help and be on the board. He knows first hand what it's like for a family member to go through trauma and how it affects the whole family. I couldn't be prouder of him wanting to join this cause.
Bonita Murray Mausia is my great friend and is also like family to our family. She was so excited and happy to join the board!
She is extremely knowledgeable in the non-profit foundation world. She previously was on a non-profit board for 20 years that raised donations that helped kids in the navajo nation to receive scholarships. I am so grateful she wanted to join 4 Gone Still Strong and now she is helping people get up after trauma. She is full of great charity events and fundraising ideas.
